The Dimensions of Empowerment:
In an analysis of responses from nearly four hundred managers at a Fortune 500 company, Spreitzer (1995, 1996) was able to identify empirically four dimensions of empowerment:
A sense of meaning. Their work is important to them; they care about what they are doing.
A sense of competence. They feel confident about their ability to do the work; they know they can perform.
A sense of self-determination. They feel free to choose how to do the work; they are not “micromanaged”
A sense of impact. (p.226)
